Economic Development Minister, Paolo Romani met the Swiss Federal Councillor for the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications, Doris Leuthard, at the Ministry in Via Veneto.

Italy and Switzerland have agreed to sign a new Memorandum of Understanding governing the energy relations between the two countries vis-à-vis the European and international framework.

The meeting was in fact an opportunity to overview the relations between the two countries in the area of energy and, at the same time, exchange views on recent events in Japan.

Minister Romani said he very much appreciated the effective cooperation of the Swiss authorities in restoring the Transitgas pipeline. Another subject of discussion was the TAP project, the trans-Adriatic pipeline - which involves the Swiss company EGL – bringing Italy natural gas from fields in the Caspian.
